An endless feud between the fans of Mohammed Rafi and Kishore Kumar..

Mohammed Rafi was born at Kotla Sultan Singh, near Amritsar . Rafi displayed his talent for singing at the tender age of 13. The lure of movies beckoned him to Bombay in 1944. His first hit was the Tera Khilona Toota Balak from Anmol Ghadi in 1946. India lost this jewel on July 31, 1980.

Abhas Kumar Ganguly, better known as Kishore Kumar was born on August 4, 1929 in Kandwa. Following the footsteps of his elder brother Ashok Kumar he too ventured into movies. But he soon realised that his heart was in singing. Under the patronage of RD Burman he soon flourished. He would at times compose and write songs himself. Sadly he passed away in October,1987.

The debate as to who was the greater singer carries on even today, even decades after their death. Both of them left an indelible mark in the world of Indian film music, a void that still cannot be filled today. No wonder that their fans are at constant feud with one another trying to prove that their hero was better.

It is a no secret that Mohammed Rafi was a trained classical singer and that Kishore Kumar had a natural talent. Hence Rafi’s fans feel that he was the more accomplished and skilful of the two. Kishoreda’s fans are of the opinion that though he may not have been trained, he had purity and sheer quality of voice. The fact that he wasn’t trained, and could still sing anything, both classical and non classical songs with equal magic rendered him more superior than Rafi.

Fans claim that Rafi was the most favoured singer for many veteran composers while Kishore Kumar was preferred by few and was a playback mainly for Dev Anand and later for Rajesh Khanna. Rafi on the other hand balanced his melodious voice for diverse stars like Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Guru Dutt, Rajendra Kumar and Shammi Kapoor.

In support of Rafi’s greatness, many of his fans say Rafi sang for Kishore Kumar in films that Kishore himself acted. They also draw the attention to Rafi’s song Darde Dil in Karz which was based on a single note and proved that he was indeed blessed with God-gifted melody. Mohammed Rafi’s fans also claim that Sonu Nigam and Udit Narayan who belong to the Rafi school are technically better than Kumar Sanu, Babul Supriyo etc.

On the other hand, Kishore Kumar’s fans remind people of songs which he sang by melodiously incorporating his inimitable yodelling. Those numbers are extremely popular even today. They further claim that in the 70’s and 80’s, it was he who sang for a number of heroes.

This debate can go on endlessly. However it must be stated that both were great singers of their times and each had his own distinctive style.

There was no feud between the two and the immense respect that Kishore Kumar had for Mohammed Rafi is clearly seen in the photo during Rafi’s funeral. A silent, sad and grief-struck Kishore in the newspapers portrayed very well that no one except him understood what an irreparable loss had taken place in Indian film music.

Since you have heard rafi singing those songs, they appear perfect to you. If kishore kumar or other hindi singer would have sung those songs originally, then also they might have appeared great. The crux is the original rendition is always attractive as the stamp is already put. To change the original beauty, is generally difficult, except by a singer with extraordinary talent. Kishore kumar songs, mere naina , roop tera mastana etc. too are liked by many and this is the reason many believe no other hindi singer could have rendered them as beautiful as kishore.

    Kishore fan saab 2140 post

I have seen the abuses being aimed at kishore fans in rafi site recently. Even binu nair who claims himself as the leader of rafi foundation has used wrong language against fans of other singers as well as the other singers.

Let me first take up the issue regarding kishore vs rafi

    1. In the 70’s rafi didn’t have fan following which kishore kumar had, neither was any hero for which rafi sang was so popular as rajesh khanna was. Even in the last years of his life, kishore’s voice was nice to hear whereas rafi’s voice started fading from mid 70’s itself and moreover rafi lived lesser than kishore in age.
Kishore was certainly more versatile than rafi, who was only a singer. Kishore was a muti talented personality, how rafi can be compared with him, I do not know.

    2. How many rafi fans know kishore kumar achieved greater heights without any expert training in music, which rafi took so many years to achieve, as kumar ji states here in his above post.

    3. Kishore created a new sensation with the yodelling genre in his songs, which rafi could not achieve.

    4. Kishore kumar was so verstaile that even he did not had time to do playback for some songs in which he was a actor himself and rafi had to sing for him, that was the status of kishore kumar against rafi who was just a singer and not as versatile as kishore kumar.

    5. Next, in rafi forum itself one can find that, agreed by binu nair himself, that great music director such as anil biswas, and others have mentioned rafi as no singer or just as ok singer. In fact, those music directors have never made such a comment against kishore at any time. What confirms that other than kishore’s greatness.

    6. There was no competition for kishore even at the time of his death (similar to saigal ji and I think only other singer who falls in this category was ghantashala ji of telugu) and same was not for rafi.

    7. The so called most preferred singer rafi in 50’s and 60’s was dethroned by kishore and rafi could never regain his earlier status and kishore grew in stature and became incomparable in bollywood from 1969.

None of the above points can be disputed by any rafi fans and which confirm kishore as greater.

Next, kishore fan ji 2140 yes I too have noticed this foolish debate in rafi forum and they were just comparing rafi with ghantashala, with whom I think rafi is not a comparison at all. I have read the posts there in detail and my thoughts are as follows. The following logic can be clearly applied in this regard.

    1. I was reading one post of one Mr. Raj in rafi forum wherein he mentions that where is rafi who rehearsed kuhu kuhu some 30 times even then he failed and where is ghantashala who rendered toughest songs in just one take; is there any comparison, never at all, rafi fans are just addicted to their ignorant logic and illusion about rafi being greatest which is not so. Had be been the greatest kishore could never have provided competition to him neither would have overtaken him.

    2. Ghantashala was also most dominant without any competition in his industry for nearly 3 decades, as is said, and which was not the case with rafi, hence there is absolutely no comparison between ghantashala and rafi and ghantashala was certainly in a different league.

    3. There were two links given in rafi forum by the national daily Hindu newspaper highlighting the greatness of both rafi and ghantashala : one by Mr. Haldar for rafi and one by Mr. Rafi fan1 for ghantashala ji. On clear reading of both, it can be clearly concluded that ghantashala ji had a clear edge over rafi. The daily stated that rafi was greatest among all the hindi playback singers (actually it is disputed vs kishore kumar) whereas for ghantashala ji it stated he was class apart among all the singers in the playback singing field and further stated that he was a colossus who created a musical environment wherein human emotions and music were never in such perfect harmony. The daily further praised ghantashala ji as the supreme melody king with a very great divine talent capable of moving hearts of the people. For rafi, it stated regarding his achievements only with reference to other known singers in hindi field and not beyond that.

    4. Ghantashala ji was absolutely technically very brilliant than rafi in all his songs, rafi was never a match for him. Rafi songs are very easy to render as compared to ghantashala’s which are very tough.

  3. Sandeepshrivastav says:

    Kishore fan,

Yes, the same trend is continuing, same propoganda on rafi and calling names for fans of other singers. This trend has extended even to the extent of raining abuses on legends. Hope they change themselves.

Mohd rafi fans are just comparing with the south singer ghantasala, who is said to be the greatest telugu playback singer ever born. This is a big surprise as they have been arguing over a singer of a different industry and language. They should actually compare rafi with kishore kumar who was the legend who overtook rafi and gave a new turning to bollywood. Anyhow, the earlier they understand this fact, it is the better. Coming to rafi vs. ghantasala, I have heard ghantasala quite well, and ghantasala is clearly ahead of rafi, in range, voice etc.etc. Actually, both were from different industries, so both should not be compared. Nevertheless there were some common songs such as chal ud ja re panchi, kuhu kuhu between both, ghantasala renders them both with excellency than rafi, even in high pitch ghantasala voice reaches comfortably. Of course, rafi was not bad either, but ghantasala was more comfortable in the songs, specially in kuhu kuhu where rafi was embarassing in comparison to ghantasala. However, ghantasala is not so well known among the north people, Now due to this rafi site and specially rafi fans, he has become more popular.

Comparison between rafi and ghantasala is just like comparing a maruthi car and mercedes benz – the former vehicle is most preferred and popular among larger sections of people, whereas the latter vehicle is the most brilliant among all the vehicles, though not popular and not preferred by many people as they cannot afford it. Rafi fans should know this.

  4. allahkidein says:

@Kumar- I had always been a Mohd. Rafi fan, since I was a kid. Like my parents and friends, I, obediently followed the tradition to listen and admire rafi and only rafi. His “Makhmali awaaz” was always a treat to my ears. I would sing his songs at the school and with friends. People liked me because I was eventually, if not easily. able to hit those “high surs”. I was admired.
But, then I had chance to listen to Kishore da`s songs. I was moved! His voice was uniquely LARGE. The base in his voice was incredibly deep, unlike any other singer. His voice was inimitable. Such strong voice, reflected pronounced masculinity. His songs like ‘Hal Kya Hai Dilon Ka’, ‘Phoolon ke rang se’, ‘Aapke Anurodh Pe’ ‘Kuch To log kaheinge’ and many others, are great examples of his talent. You would see many singers singing Rafi`s songs, giving him a good enough tribute. There are sonu nigam, shabbir and many others who are fairly good at it. But Kishore Kumar was UNIQUE. No one in the world has such a tremendous throw and solidarity. AND now we can just IMAGINE what kishore da could have done if he was classically trained from his childhood. His voice would have broken the boundaries and CONQUERED the world!!
The khanak in kishoreda`s voice was a god-gift and the almighty has not given even one-tenth of that charismatic resonance that kishoreda was rewarded with.
Conclusively, I hope and pray that the rafi`s fans break their old bias for an hour and just listen to the songs I have recommended above! Do not banish kishore da`s talent without even weighing them fairly. And as for Rafi, he has been my guru, idol, teacher, god and always will be.

    Thank you.

  5. Sukumar says:

    Kishore fan

Why do you people go and argue with those people who spread false propoganda. Everbody knows about kishore kumar and hindi singing, one need not go and argue to prove that. Similarly, I have seen some of kishore kumar lovers were seen in that site recently and tried to argue in favour of kishore kumar and one south indian singer called ghantasala (whom his fans believe as superior to rafi) and also the name calling that is happening in that rafi forum. I think kishore fans should not go and argue there, as no amount of arguments can change the status of either rafi, kishore or so called ghantasala and their achievements are well on record. And particularly, with those people who are using bad language against people like you who were trying to explain some valid points. should avoid such things as you cannot convince a person who does not possess an ability to get convinced or does not have a open mind for discussions. Those people go to any level in criticising everybody who speaks against rafi, without thinking whether the facts are correct or not.Blinded by ignorance, let them believe rafi is superior, but that does not serve any purpose.

  6. Kranthi says:

    Mr. Kumar 2139

Exactly, that was great. many people fail to realise that kishore kumar became highly successful with out much classical training. And I do not consider rafi’s classical songs to be of a superior class.

Manna de is clearly superior to rafi in those type of genres and the sophisticated numbers which manna de has sung in hindi, were never attempted by rafi at any point of time.

Next, the telugu singer ghantasala is miles ahead than rafi in those type of genres, in fact he has got a better voice and range than rafi. But, unfortunately he is largely known only to telugu speaking people and in southern states, largely andhra pradesh. Anyhow, ghantasala was from a different industry, so his greatness is irrelevant here.

Rafi fans will say anything ; they are just zeroes in music and does not know anything except saying rafi great rafi great and nothing else avoiding real facts. They know only to shout and call names for anybody who says rafi is not a singer at all. Nothing will be a great example of such type from the music director anil biswas ji when he stated rafi was not his type of singer at all ;and salil calling rafi as just an ok singer. The crux is on kishore kumar’s talent and greatness who achieved heights of success at the national level in bollywood without expertise in classical training. That is what makes kishore kumar special. The songs which were referred by kumar ji in his post just cast a immense influence on the listener. Kishore kumar was a legend in his own style, and bollywood would ever remember this great singer whenever the topic “playback singers from bollywood” are discussed.

  7. Kishorefan says:

    2139 kumar sahab

Badiya post zara rafi fans bhi pad ley en facts ko.

1969 ke bad kishore ne jo crown pehana woh unke marne tak unke sir par raha. The crown which was kept on kishore’s head in 1969 remained with him until his death.

Historical records show there were only three singers in indian film industry were fully dominant even at their time of death viz., saigal saab, kishore kumar and ghantasala ji from telugu industry and no other singer from indian film industry had that credit. Calling rafi a singer of the millennium is a big joke, many people I have even heard calling rafi’s voice as feminine voice, as compared to kishore kumars male and majestic voice. Regarding awards, kishore was not awarded only due to politics. Lata mangeshkar has got greater awards than rafi and even she bagged early than rafi. This perhaps rafi fans do not know.

  8. Raj says:

    Kishorefan ji

After a long time kishore fan ji , well those people will not change, let them continue to spread false propoganda in that site for their favourite singer. Many people are already vexed with their attitude.

How many musicians visit that site? Only people with half baked knowledge without knowiing abcd of music start discussing in that site. This forum is much better, it attracts various kinds of people, and has more quality. Let it continue like that.

  9. Kishorefan says:

    Dear friends,

We had a brief stint at rafi forum after a long time – just to check whether rafi fans have changed – To my surprise and my other friends – same attitude, same abuses towards legends is still continuing.

I have invited rafi fans to kishore forum – will have to see.

  10. Kumar says:

I would first request all to listen to these songs before commenting on Kishoreda’s prowess in playback singing……pls listen to O sathi re, pboolon ke rang se, rim jhim gire saawan, choo kar mere man ko, chingari koi bhadke, yeh jo mohabbat hai, yeh shaam mastani, hum bewafa hargiz na the, Kuch to log kahenge, yeh kya hua and loads of other songs…….and then talk about him……it took Rafisaab, Mannada and other singers years of classical training to reach where they were…..whereas Kishoreda did not need all that training to become the most successful playback singer in Indian film industry. He beat everyone hands down in 70’s and displaced many contemporary singers including Rafisaab at one stroke. Lack of classical training only added to Kishoreda’s ability to capture the pathos and emotions of the situations and the songs. He literally ruled the world of playback in 70s and 80s without a doubt. His voice suited almost everyone from Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh, Rishi, Rakesh Roshan, Randhir Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Dharmendra, Anil Kapoor to many others. His biggest plus point was not having classical knowledge. Few years back when Filmfare mag did the polling to know who was the most popular and legendary singer……Kishoreda got 75% votes and stood at #1 position….Rafisaab got 2nd place and the rest followed the suit. This clearly proves that the public is not crazy and they chose the deserving as #1…….that’s Kishoreda……yesterday, today and forever…..chalte chalte mere yeh geet yaad rakhna…kabhi alvida na kehna…..keep humming guys.

  11. Rakesh says:

Both Kishore da and Rafi sir were gems,legends..and when paired with the divine lata mangeshkar or Asha Bhonsle it often brought out sheer Magic..i think they knew far more about singing, than we do writing in these forums

  12. sumanta dutta says:

both are true legends in indian music and comparison between two legends is foolishness

  13. anurag says:

    Listen these 4 songs:

“subhan Allah oye haseen Chehra oye….”
“saj rahi gali meri maa Chunar gote me….”
“kabhi khud pe kabhi halaat pe rona aya…. ”
“jane bahar Husn tera bemisaal hai…”

Name any other singer who can attempt it perfectly.

Kishore is many light years away. Does not know basics.
what are u doing? Comparing Rafi with whom?

Manne De sahab went to rafi sahab afetr a duet ” tu hai mera prem devta….” and asked Rafi with a smile…” What do you do in a song that I become 19 and you 21?”

Rafi sahab replied ” i listen to your songs Manna Da”

Rafi can be compared with great singers like Manna De, who really praised rafi beyond words; and declared his ranking 1 to 10.
or with lata Mangeshkar ; or with mehdi Hassan……….. you can not degrade him to Kishore level, who is not in my top 20 list.

  14. sudheer says:

  16. Pikai says:

Mr. Charan charvedi, This is not your fault, that god has not given you such delicate feelings to feel the incredible things of this earth. I truly felt gr8 regret for you. Do you know sir, there are some unlucky people exists in this world who refuse to agree ‘Taj Mahal’, who refuse to agree the smell of Rose. Instead of Taj-mahal they would rather appreciate an ordinary building. Istead of pleasant smell of rose, they would rather appreciate any malodour. So, that is not their fault. They are absolutely right as per their strange feelings. I suppose you also belongs to the same category!!

I won’t go in any argument. If you can understand Bengali just listen ‘Kishore kumar’s Rakhal Chandra matal, a sentimental drama in which he did the role of 8 different characters alone with 8 different voice, ok Sir. If you wish, you could listen.
You are right that, he is not a singer! He is a Subject! The Kishore kumar (Versatile genius!).. K for kishore shown by sony television, (neither mine nor your personal channel!), documentery made by ‘Satyajit ray’! Zindegi ka safar, book of Rs.1200 regarding his biography came in market a few years earlier!
Each & every singer inspired by him. It is said by ‘Raj kapoor’ after Kk’s demise that- “Even god is unable to make this person 2nd time”!!.Yesudas!! he has got sweet voice, but not manly.I can’t understand, that why the hell ‘Mana ho tum behad haseen’ offered or asked Yesudas to sung, while the particular composition always remembers about.. …?? evry1 knows!! Still I feel regret about this composition of Bappi lahiri, that Kk missed a marvelous composition in his life I think so. Effortless singing!! Listen Baanke Bihari.of a film‘Humare Tumare’Listen ‘Jhumroo’!! In sad listen Sapno ke seher (Ahsaas) you can able to understand what is effortless singing “Hope God bless you my child”!!!!!

  17. santanu says:

kk and rafi sahab both are greats..dont waste your times writting some foolish comments..just enjoy their song..j.

  18. Sandeep says:

Rafi Sir And Kishore Kumar Sir Both are very good singer but my Favorite is Kishore Sir….

  19. Charan Charvedi says:

As far as voice quality is concerned, Yesudas is by far the most melodious, classically trained singer than all others ‘TOM, DICK AND hARRY’. he can sing all sort of songs effortlessly. People who knows about music do not condiser kk even a singer, he may have a loud-bassy voice which some people have liking for, as there are lot of fans of himesh rishamya and mukesh who were technically not very good singers. ghantasala is an ok singer, though.

  20. Ali says:

When people come to compare there singer who they feel great singer with mohd only why?because I think that mean mohd rafi is the best it not as I like him or I am his fan but what I read about him and other singers, Mannay da and mukesh fan they never try to compare them with mohd rafi because they said that mohd rafi is the best…also there is other singer of south who said when I listen to mohd rafi I feel that I am not a singer….
Actor Dharji mohd rafi is my life and I don’t know what was wrong with film maker and music directors not use mohd rafi for my all songs and When I made film for my son I wanted to mohd rafi sing for him….
Actor Shammi ji if there was no mohd rafi there be no Shammi…
Film maker MMD mohd rafi voice is voice of God….
Music director madan mohan I should not be pay when mohd rafi sing for me..
Music director opn who ignored mohd rafi for two years said that was his biggest mistake in his life and said I am because of mohd rafi…
Singers Kishore the song which I can sing it one way and same song mohd rafi can sing it in many way….
Singer Manna da mohd rafi from from 1 to 10..
Please find like these big name who said same said on mohd rafi…

  21. Ali says:

I like to ask who are we to compare singers and like to force others to agree what we think is right?
To compare mohd rafi with kishore da we should listen what said about kishore da and mohd rafi from people who worked with both…..
Compare mohd rafi with south singers also ask people who know about both….
Please read what said about mohd rafi and kishore da by singers without comparing …
To kishore da fans please listen to kk interview with lata ji what he said to Lata ji about the singing….
To mohd rafi fans we should not answer the way we are doing…..

  22. Talha says:

I belong to Kishore Kumar school , he is my Guru in music, I started loving music after listening his songs.
I also have deep respect for Rafi Saab, my father was more towards him. I can imagine Rafi sahab’s voice has got more SAANS involved and more difficult breath wise, BUT the charisma that Kishore da had was un-explainable, today’s pop is nothing in front of his voice, he is a true POP KING n also classical singer.
His style of singing is more demanding in new world.

  23. Musharraf says:

    Thank you Shekar Kandanji, post-2127

It’s really a legendary song that was sung by the legend.

  24. Shekar Kandan says:

Wah what a voice, what a melody, just listen to this great rendition by the legend

  25. Vimal Kumar says:

kishore kumar knows nothing about singing, he only had high bassed voice that would suit amitabh only. how can one sound bassed while singing, while has softer voice once talking normally during dialogues. kk voice was not naturally suited to rajesh khanna, dev anand etc.
kk could only youdal, and this is not singing.
kk did not know what profession he should ahere to, thats why initially he tried to sing, failed miserably, then acted patheticallyt, was much of a joker like raj kapoor, then he started stage singing, he got famous only once sense of music faded away in 80’s and only shore prevailed, thats why he got nicknamed, ‘”shor kumar”.
Ghantasala was a similar figure in south.
I think the voice of sp bala subramunium is far better than ghantasala and kishore, his technique, and surrs and classical singing is also better than both ghantasala and kishore.

  26. Nitan Lal Hariwal says:

look guys, all of these 3 singers are pathetic, they are:
    1. kishore kumar.
    2. ghantasala.
    3. Yesudas.
Himesh Rishamya is the best, in melody, in surr, in taan, in voice modulations, in singing capabilities, in entertainment, in melody, in classical and semi classical songs, in geet, in ghazal, in thumri, in naghma, in khayyal, in loch, in ley and in everything.
hearing the above 3 singers cause you lot of stress, strain and headache.

  27. a r modak says:

the voice over for dev by kk suited him only in “comedic” songs-but, if one talks about sentimental ghazli numbers, then tere is no doubt rafi surpassed his contemporary kk.
kk was good in johnny mera naam, banarasai babu, jewel thief etc………but just listen to rafis numbers, fifty years on, and you get that nostalgic feel-example……..tu kahan ye bataa- koi sone ke dilwaala-zindagi hai kya sun meri jan-teri zulfo se-etc…….aah-the list goes on.and this is in no measure a denigration of kishore. also, one must remember—kk made dev famous and vice versa, but kk”s immortality only started when the first superstar came onto thefilmi scene, rajesh khanna………..take roop tera from aradhana, and the legend was “resurrected”………………………………………

  29. khursheed says:

I am a fan of both md.rafi and kishore kumar, i want to relate to you guys there is no comparision between them as both are human beings and bound to have flaws in them. what i believe is

    About Md.Rafi:

md.rafi takes everything for ex:Actor of the song, situation of the song etc in to account and then sings most(occasionaly it back fires) of the songs perfectly. due to this his voice varies which i think is a good sign of being a good singer.

    About Kishore Kumar:

Kishore has the voice of a youth, which is very good, whenever he sings a song be it sad, fast, qawalli etc his voice sounds the same. that doesnt mean he does not sing all kind of songs imperfectly. His voice has a commanding(occasionaly it backfires) kind of feeling due to this you will find all kishore songs sung effortlesly.
I find singer Shaan voice similar to Kishore’s if you listen shaan songs you will feel how effortlessly he sings.

So dont ever compare these two great singers, both are very good.

so md.rafi fans and kishore fans take a chill pill, just relax and enjoy there songs…

  30. Raj says:

    Shikore ji

Pl. put up your post in rafi forum on kishore’s greatness and versatality – rafi fans should know about that.

  31. Shikore says:

I have re visited this site after a few months and i am totally amazed at all the comments made by you all. You are all going in circles by chasing your own tails. What a waste of time. All this talk about Ghantasala, Yesudas is nonsense. They cannot be compared to Bollywood singers. G and Y sang their genre songs in South India and cannot be compared to KK or Rafi who are of a different genre.
Please read my comments on 2049 which will give you a clear understanding on whether KK or Rafi is a better singer.
    Look forward to your comments
    Kind Regards, Shikore Shumar

I am sorry for my typing errors in earlier post 2113.

  33. Bhushan says:

    Dear Musharaff ji and others

Some rafi fans (fake ones) have been using my name and Dr, Chandrasekhar ji’s name there by creating wrong posts. One such wrong post in the name of anil cherian is also created, who confirmed in his next post.

Taking my name and posting some derogatory comments, i was really disturbed and stopped posting for a while, only to revert back after comments from true music lovers like you. I am a carnatic musician with more than 15 years of experience, out of honesty would wanted to put some musical questions, which have been wrongly dealt with in the rafi forum by one musician who claims to have 50 years experience in music. I have come across such musician first time in my life, who with such experience, made such comments which clearly indicate that he is not a musician at all and are there only for creating disturbances. I stopped replying because so called musician was not able to understand what is meant by music and raga, when I posed a question to him. What can I argue with a person who talks about music without knowing what is music and rag.

The plan was to post some derogatory facts by them by using names of ghantasala fans, which of course, no true rafi fan is going to believe, hope by this time those intruders might have realised their folly, by noting that their plan has been unsuccessful and i wish some good sense prevail upon such people henceforth.

  34. Dr. Chandrasekhar says:

    Ahmed kutty ji,

The intruders are pronouncing gantasla – not even knowing properly the name of ghantasala, how could you believe such posts belong to ghantasala fans.

  35. Dr. Chandrasekhar says:

    2112 – Ahmed kutty ji

Some intruders are posting in our name, so as to create a picture of ghantasala fans reverting their comments.

What a pity sir ? To argue in favour of rafi, ‘so called intruder false rafi lovers” had to take names of ghantasala fans.

This speaks about their knowledge about rafi and his songs and on music as well – as one mr. narain shankar says he has 50 years of experience and he disputes all the statements about rafi, lata, balamuralikrishna, the great carnatic musician and views of all other great A Grade musician artists fom all india radio, for their views on ghantasala – by saying that he can prove all of them wrong – he claims himself as a musican but is least knowing that he has criticised all other great musicians, either he should be a expert and other musicians are zero, or he is a big zero, with all other great musicians proving correct, which is in fact true.

  36. Bhushan says:

    Dear Musharaff ji and friends,

Thank you for your comments. That man was a different bhushan and I was just waiting for him to move from here lest confusion might arise. Myself a staunch ghantasala fan have stopped commenting on posts which deserve no comment, discussions can be made only with people who can make discussions, Thanks a log musharaff ji for your post.

  37. Musharraf says:

The language that Mr. Bhushan used in the post 2110 does not meet the minimum standard of decency. Such comments do not only pollute the atmosphere but has a detrimental effect on those who have contributed much by participating in healthy discussions. I strongly object the use of such abusive language and more when it is used against personalities who commands immense admiration and respect. I hope that Mr. Bhushan will refrain himself from using such words. There are definitely better ways of expressing views.

Control your are talking about a legend called Ghantasala, you are not even fit to take his name. I request the moderator to pls through these kind of guys out who do not know how to respect others.
I am an adrant fan of Rafi sahaab for me he is the starting and ending of HFM,Ghantasal is in the same league as Rafi if not more.
The way you addressd sri Ghantasala is really very distrubing for every one.If you want to use this kind of language pls use it in your home. this is not the right forum where people with sound music knowladge (atleast 60% of them) share on their thoughts/facts or opinions.

I understand in the heat of moment when you try to defend or show supirority of your idol you tend to loose your cool but speaking such filthy language is unpardanable.
Refranin from using this kind of language for anyone henceforth,

  39. Ahamed Kutty says:

    Respected Bhattacharyaji,

Pl refr 2111.There is another comment by Dr.Chandrasekhar
in which says as”I admit rafi is far ahead of
Gantasala.Gantasla is the second best, indeed.I appologise
for telling lies all along my futile commnts,so far.I take my
words back.rafi was,is and will be the best legendary singer
    the world has ever known.”

  40. Ahamed Kutty says:

It is a fact that Panchamda has given more chances to
Kishoreda than Rafi Saab during seventies but Rafi Saab
who got Filmfare and National Award for the same song
“Kya huaa tera waada” for which the music director was
    Panchamda in the year 1977.

Once MD Anu Malik was telling he had seen Panchamda
who was deperately asking for a work.It is a common
talk among Rafi Fans that in the initial stage of
Panchamda’s carrier Rafi Saab helped him lot.

  41. Bhattacharya says:

    Raj ji

Very recently some rafi fans have posted some senseless comments. I was literally laughing at those comments. Their minds have become so frustrated that in a lot of confusion, they are not knowing what they are writing. one such man says that himesh reshamiaya has sung in baiju bawra o duniya ke rakhwale in a better way. In their confused state of minds, they have even forgotten rafi’s songs and are thinking that somebody else has sung those songs of rafi . See the disease of jealousy will lead only to such situation and this exactly happened in that forum.

  42. Ahamed Kutty says:

    Dear Raj ji

Pls refer 2106. I did not mention anything about Gantasaalaji
since my knowledge about the veteran is very poor.In short
my target was not Gantasaalaji since the topic of this article
is “an endless feud between the fans of Mohd.Rafi and Kishore

Himesh Rishumya has sung the song o duniya ke rakhwale better than ghantasala in baiju bawra.

    2106 – Ahamed kutty

Do not try to hide the intentions, you had been earlier told respectfully, not to act in disguise. Why you are depending upon KJY’s views on rafi – does your ears do not work or what, you make references to points such as so and so has told like this etc. You make a proper analysis for yourself about singers or artists from a holistic angle and never mention such points in future kjy treats rafi as his manasik guru, spb treats him as his godfather etc.

There has been never a argument between kishore fans and ghantasala fans, nor there has been a comparison between kishore and ghantasala, despite numerous discussions on ghantasala in a kishore forum, by kishore lovers. Why this is so ? FAKE RAFI FANS SHOULD KNOW HOW TO DISCUSS MUSIC FROM KISHORE FORUM. RAFI FANS ENCOUNTER PROBLEM WITH EVERYBODY FROM THE DAY ONE – THIS HAS BECOME A PHILOSOPHY THERE.

  44. Raj says:

    2106 – ahamed kutty ji

Stop preaching your styles. KJY mentioning rafi as his manasik guru, then what about rafi’s statement – I cannot sing like ghantasala – this was from manasik guru of KJY, why do not you analyse that ? Taking advantage of rafi’s and ghantasala’s absence and KJY’s availability – is it not a shame ?

  45. Ahamed Kutty says:

It is quite interesting that a singer who got seven national
awards for best male play back singer (K J Yesudas) treats
rafi saab as his “maanasik guru” but it is so shameful to
project somebody as number one singer who could not
bagg even a single national award.

  46. Shekhar kadam says:

Good to see fans trying to shield their idols so viciously. Even going to an extent that they analyse Rafi sahab’s taans and kishore da’s yoddle. But i dont understand why none of these analysers are known to music where mentioning Rafi and Kishore’s commands respect. Both were genius. Both were sides of the same coin. But both were human who left a permanent mark on HFM. When i personally like Rafi a lot i never mean that kishore was a bad singer. Even when i am trained in Hindustani classical I wont dare attempt analyse ghantasala’s or rafi’s taans nor would i attempt kishores yoddle. Its like insulting them.

  47. Dr. Chandrasekhar says:

Sandeep Shrivastav sahab – post 2103

I feel short of words for your post. I just wanted music lovers happiness in enjoying some beautiful songs of ghantasala. Thank you very much for your appreciation.

I never thought response to the songs would be so much, I am myself surprised – Dear sri sandeep and others, the songs which have been greatly appreciated are just simple numbers for ghantasala and I had given the link in response to kishore fan ji’s request i.e songs which are just in the “range” of madhuban mein radhika “range” of rafi.

The southern film industry has a lot of importance on such type of songs in films and ghantasala was the foremost in creating beauty for such songs and many other genres as well. Such beauty has not been created by any other singer to the level of ghantasala

  48. Sandeep Shrivastav says:

  49. Dr. Chandrasekhar says:

Dear Kishore fan ji, Bhushan ji, Raj ji

Nice to know your views on the songs. I had already mentioned that kishore kumar lovers are good analysts on music.

  50. Kumar says:

Today we do not know who is a playback singer – songs in films have become like that – only hype is created that the songs become hit
