The first contestant Milind Ingle began with the number Bhanware Ki Gunjan from the movie Kal Aaj Aur Kal (1971). Chintan came next with the song Apni To Jaise Taise from the film Lawaris. Chintan was followed by Apurva who came up with the number from Bombay To Goa – Dekha Na Haye Re Socha Na, adding the right mettle to the song, and getting a big applause from both the judges and the audience. His was a great performance well received by all. Chetan who was next gave his best to the song from Don, Arre Deewano Mujhe Pehacchano. The last but not the least, Nayan stepped in to finish the non-stop entertainment with the song Meri Umar Ke Naujawanon from Karz, a song that marked the evening like a dream dessert after a splendid feast.

What followed was a series of clips of the challengers’ singing and a sneak peek at the challengers’ lives, hobbies and passions. The first one to come on the show was K. Shailendra who took up the challenge to face Milind Ingle.. Shailendra sang the title song from the movie ‘Agar Tum Na Hote’ (1983). Milind was calm and did not look threatened by this challenger! One of the challengers Rex D’Souza, who has won many hearts in the show ‘Fame Gurukul’, telecast on Sony Entertainment Network, challenged Chintan with the song Bachana aye Hasino’ from the film ‘Hum Kisise Kum Naheen’ (1977).

The next challenger to come to perform was Abhijit Ghosal, who challenged Chetan Rana, sang the number ‘Maana Janaab Ne Pukara Nahi’ from the movie ‘Paying Guest’ (1957). Arnab was challenged by challenger Arif Sheikh who performed on the number ‘Nakhrewaali’ from the movie ‘New Delhi’. Arnab and Arif had a musical battle to prove one over the other, when it came to being Kishore disciples. Arnab asked Arif to sing the jive in the song ‘Eek Chatura Naar’, but Arif was hesitant and declined the challenge. On the other hand, he asked Arnab to sing the song ‘Meri Neendon Mein Tum’, which Arnab sang very well.

Apurva was challenged by Jimmy Felix, a member of the band called ‘Aasma’, who arrived in a pair of casuals and sang the song in his own style. Jimmy was an instant hit. His relaxed stature and managing the song confidently was well appreciated. He came up with Neele Neele Amber Pe from the movie ‘Kalakaar’. He was very impressive and his guitar accompaniment to the song, hightlighted his performance. He was probably the best among the challengers and was appreciated by the challenged contestant and the judges.

Sikander Ali, the last challenger to come on stage was from Pakistan, who had no formal training but learnt to sing just by listening to Kishore Da’s songs. He sang the number ‘Jaan-E-Jaan Dhoondta Phir Raha’ from the movie ‘Jawani Diwani’. The challenging between them was trendy and was entertaining. He handled the requested song Pag Ghungroo Bandhe in a challenging mood and the resultant performance was good.

Yet another episode with challenges from aspiring singers and contestants ended successfully, urging us to look forward to another equally fun filled, entertaining and competing episode the following day.

kishor da mere bhgawan hai aur mein bhi khandwa se hi hoo kishore ke gane sab gate hai

  2. When already the contest is in the midst or rather the fag end & 6 participants already made their way thru competing, why should new participants be encouraged as challengers? Are they the reference standards for the participants to cross the boundry?A dead line was already made on Jan 20th for new entrants. Why the music reality shows are heading this way?The same was done in Chote Ustaad, and the protest of the kids was quite decent and mature. This is not a fair…..Its really disappointing not only to the participants, but also the viewers. The shows will lose its charm if they take such turns. Anyway Nayanda, Chetanda, Apoorva,Arnab,Milind &Chintan, Good Luck to all of you guys! God’s watching and will Bless you all.

I am a fan of Kihore da since 40 years. I wrote a few article on Kishore’ singing in Hindi. Amar Prem se Amar bane Kishore Kumar is my best tribute on Kishore Da.
