(Band Karo Shor, Play Only Kishore Mach Gaya Shor, Har Taraf Hain Kishore)The duo Amitabh Bachchan and Kishore Kumar have worked together in many mind-blowing numbers that has created history. This week in K for Kishore, the participants performed on various numbers by this duo. In the previous episode we had two famous men of the film industry who came as guests to pay their tribute. Javed Akhtar and Nagesh Kukunoor had come down to witness the participants giving some of the magical performances.
Today’s episode started with Sudesh Bhonsle mimicking Amithabh Bachchan in an inimitable manner. He set the mood for today’s show by singing Pyar Hame Kis Mod Pe Le Aaya from the blockbuster movie ‘Satte Pe Satta’. The participants also took part in this performance and made the atmosphere full of fun. We had seen some of the participants singing in the previous episode and five of them were remaining to perform today. The chance to win the Kishore-meter from Nagesh Kukunoor and an amazing offer to sing in the movie he is making of Kishore Kumar’s life was a really good bet for the participants to come up with better and better performances, promising an entertaining evening.
The first performer to sing in today’s episode was the judges’ favorite and winner of the Kishore Trophy in the last week’s episode, Arnab Chakraborty. He brought us the heart-winning number of Angrezi Mein Kehte Hai Ke I Love You where Amithabh had won all hearts both young and old. Nagesh requested him to sing a song in Telugu which Arnab obliged with a lively performance. Arnab got a total score of 24 and a lot of healthy comments from the judges who have put in much of their expectation on him. Javed Akhtar found his performance to be very good irrespective of what the judges have to say about it. Javed Akhtar also gave him the title Dostana. Nagesh Kukunoor however found that Arnab was not nearer to Kishore Kumar style of singing.
The next participant to come on stage was K Shailendra, who not only shows a unique hair style but has also won hearts with his singing ability. He sang the number Jaane Kaise Kab Kahan, a song written by Javed Akhtar. Sudesh Bhonsle praised him for his voice quality, Bappi Lahiri found the low notes to be messy and Amit Kumar just retrained himself to a better luck next time to Shailendra. He managed to get a total of 22. While Javed Akhtar said that he is lucky to be born with such a lovely voice but he can do better with a little help from training. He gave him the title Don. Nagesh Kukunoor and his Kishore-meter found Shailendra to be closer to Kishore Kumar’s style of singing.
Chetan Rana who has won the audience with his cool style and smile was the next one to follow Shalindra on the stage. He sang Zindagi Hanse Gaane Ke Liye Do Pal from the movie Zameer (1975). He was successful in creating the mood for the song and was able impress the judges. He managed to score a total of 26. The judges like his performance and commented that he faltered only twice and that overall his performance has been good. Javed Akhtar, however found the emotions to be missing in his voice. And Nagesh agreed with Javed Akhtar on this point.
The next participant to come on stage was Nayan Rathod who has been named as Nayan Kumar by Bappi Lahiri. He has not been able to give very good performances from the last couple of weeks as expected from the audience and judges. Today, somehow he managed to get the tune back to his normal style with the number Saara Jamana Hasino Ka Deewana from the movie ‘Yaarana’. With mixed reactions from the judges Nayan Rathod was able to get a total score of 26. Javed Akhtar felt that the effort that he has been putting in his performance was obvious seen and his performance did not sound natural. It was obvious that Nayan has been trying to improve his performance. He got the title Silsila from Javed Akhtar.
The last performance of the evening was by the audience favorite Rex D’Souza. He brought us the song Tere Jaisa Yaar Kahan from the movie ‘Yaarana’. And it proved that he meant what he sang in the later part of the show. He was unable to win over the judges and he got a total score of 21 which put him in the danger zone. The judges comments were neither very favorable.
Nagesh Kukunoor selected the six singers that he liked the most. He chose them based on their performance and closeness to Kishore Kumar. They were Amanat, Chintan, Shailendra, Nayan, Milind and Arnab. As it is customary in K for Kishore, every week one participant has to leave the show, this week we had Amanat and Rex positioned in the danger zone. Rex pleaded the judges to let him go and finally he left the show and we would miss one more talented singer in the coming weeks. But the show would go on and we are sure to witness some more amazing moments in this unique show.
