K For Kishore (Band Karo Shor, Play Only Kishore Mach Gaya Shor, Har Taraf Hain Kishore) Last week’s episodes had brought in challengers from Tata Indicom, IBN 7 and Radio Mirchi to challenge the existing participants who have been entertaining us for weeks now. The participants who have overcome the hurdles of elimination are now our final contesting super six. The theme in this week’s episodes was ‘one on one’ between the challengers and the super six. As expected, the competition is turning into a stiff one and will be very interesting to see.

The show started with the supers six coming up with a lively song Jhing Poko Poko Jhingdi Poko from the movie ‘Jhumroo’. The participants also shared their thoughts on the forthcoming tussle they will have with their challengers. Rajeshwari and Babul introduced the rules for this week’s show. The participants would be singing songs based on the themes chosen by the judges. The scoring will not be just, for one song performed, but would involve the performance of another, but a song sung by both the participants – the challenger and the challenged. Bappi Lahiri and Sudesh will be marking the scores and Amit will have the power to decide the final score, which would involve elimination of one participant.

The first participants were Apurva and Tata Indicom challenger Rex D’Souza. Bappi Lahiri’s theme was ‘a song to woo their lady loves.’ Apurva chose to sing Jaanu meri jaan from the movie ‘Shaan’ (1980), with music by R.D. Burman. Apurva performance was credible and he proved that his challenger wrong. The judges gave them the number Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhagi Se. Rex decided to sing Ruk Janaa Oh Jana from the movie ‘Warrant’ (1975), with music by R.D. Burman. Rex performance was thoroughly enjoyable with fun filled and lively spirit. Both Apurva and Rex did complete justice to the song with their own charm. The judges appreciated Apurva and he scored a total of 25 with a 9 from Amit Kumar. Rex scored a total of 25 with a 9 from Amit Kumar.

The next performers were Nayan and Radio Mirchi Challenger Sikandar Ali from Pakistan. The theme for them was a combination of hit and sentimental songs by Kishore Kumar. Nayan sang the number from the all time-hit movie ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’, Oh Saathi Re. The music was given by Kalyanji-Anandji. Sikandar sang the number Mere Naina Sawan Bhadon. The judges gave them a song to perform together, but Sikandar, who was looking lost from the beginning was not upto the expectations. The judges gave a total of 28 to Nayan and a total of 22 to Sikandar. But the scores that mattered were from Amit Kumar and while Nayan got a grand ten from him, Sikandar managed to get 7.

The third and final performers for the evening were Chintan Bakiwala and Tata Indicom Challenger Amit Paul. The theme for these singers to perform was comedy. Chintan decided to put on a typical Kishore Kumar act by singing Zarurat Hai and Amit decided to come up with the everlasting song from the movie ‘Padosan’, Mere Samne Wali Khidki Mein. Their acts prompted the judges to ask them to perform the fight sequence from the movie ‘Padosan’. Both were very good and the judges passed the verdict. Both scored 25 each and Chintan got an 8 from Amit Kumar while Amit Paul scored a 9 and was complimented by Amit Kumar. With a hope of having a power-packed performance for the next eventful evening, the host bade a farewell.
