The jive and banter in a Kishore song has been one of the expected features in the competing participants. Many past participants did attempt, but none could reach the expected level!
The episode began with Amit’s performing babloo babloo ba. Amit proved that he is the perfect chip of the old block, do we need to add more? What followed was the pageant of TV actors and actresses participating and it was an absolute visual treat. The audience as well as the distinguished judges enjoyed the VIP round, where the performers came in disguised and mimicked many contemporary actors.
The first participant from the Bangdu team to perform was Nayan Rathod. He has been renamed as Nayan Kumar for his inimitable similarity to Kishore Da’s singing style. Nayan’s performance was remarkable and was very impressive. He performed the number Le Gayi Mera Dil Teri Teerchi Najaria, Oh Gujaria. A song that no Kishore fan will ever stop enjoying considering the way Kishore handled both the male and female voices for the song!. Nayan, dressed in a female attire attempted Kishore’s part. The judges concurred that he had managed the act fairly well. He hit the high score of 30. Bappi Da remarked that Nayan looked attractive and he came forward to sing a song with Nayan in a romantic mood!
The next performer to come to the stage was Bangdu Chetan Rana. Dressed like a pirate and following Kishore Da’s performance closely, Chetan Rana sang the number Main Hun Jhum Jhum Jhumroo from the movie ‘Jhumroo’. The beautiful Karishma Tanna gave a lively performance with Chetan. Chetan too scored total of 30 with judges applauding him for his getup and performance. Before the next contestant arrived on the stage, the VIP staged a perfect mimicking of Lallu Prasad Yadav.
Suhas Sawant, the youngest Bangdu was the next performer to come on the stage. He tried to enact the much-loved scene from the movie ‘Padosan’, where Kishore Da teaches Sunil Dutt how to woo his lady-love and sang the song, ’Meri Pyari Bindu’, along with Rupali Ganguly. The judges pointed out that Suhas sounded out of tune at many places. He managed to score only 19.
Suhas’s performance was followed by a charming performance from Rupali Ganguly and Rajesh Kumar and it was the nostalgic flashback of the songs from Half Ticket and Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi played as a medley. The Paanch Rupaiyya song especially is an adorable number, where a young Kishore begs lovely Madhubala to return the money she owes him.
The episode’s last entry, Chintan Bakiwala was the last Bangdu to perform. He sang the number Cheel Cheel Chillake Kajari Sunanye from the movie ‘Half Ticket’. His disguise was that of “Munna” the hilarious role played by Kishore, where he poses as a under-10 kid. The judges liked Chintan’s performance and gave him a sweeping score of 30.
The episode came to an end happily and we all look forward to yet another entertaining Saturday’s episode tomorrow.
