Yeah you are right Binu. He suggested MDs to approach singers like Rafi and Manna Dey for many songs. Because he was not good in classical.

But this can be judged only by music lovers and not by kishore haters.
They will pinpoint unnecessary things I mean over sensitive comments
some people show off a lot.

You are right too. Kishore’s beginning was staright forward as far as I
remember. But Kishore-RBD combo was great, I guess what lata had
delivered in that song, we don’t need Rafi or Manna, Kishore too can
do that cause it was not that tough I think for them.

We will not say Kishores singing has a flaw: he had limitations
in certain songs which can be discerned by an objective listener
and surely not by a KK lover.. I love Kishores songs.. many of
them but not all…
Kishore knew of his limitations and would often refuse some numbers
and refer it to Mohd Rafi… This shows that he had lots and lots of
muisical sense and prenomination in MUSIC.
But , again this went wrong occassionally. Kishore da refused to
sing waada tera waada, waade pe tera maara gaya.. and asked
LP to give it to RAFI but LP did not budge and the song created
a major record for him. And secondly Kishore would not have
expected the success of his song : roop tera mastana and Meri
sapnon ki rani…
More, Kishore created magic with some of his songs just like other
maestros on the scene : MuKesh, Saighal, Talat and Rafi….

Messi,

The focus is either both singers sing in classical or both do not sing classical.

If one listens to the songs sung by Rafi / Lata “Cooho Cooho Bole Koeliaa”; “Ajahun Aae Baalma” or Rafi / Asha “Pal Do Pal Ka Saath”; “Hai Agar Dushman” the classical co-ordination between both singers is perfect. Similar is the case with Rafi / Manna Dey combo “Ye Eshk Eshk Hai”; “Na To Caravan Ki Talash Hai”. Again the classical co-ordination between 2 singers incorporates many twists and turns.

In the song “Iss mod se jaate hai” the Lata is too melodies because KK’s late entry in the song is straight forward. It should also be in classical form since Lata sings the Alap in classical way, where she completely over shadows KK.

If one observes there is a similar mistake by Pancham in songs “Biti Na Bitae Raina” & “Naam Gum Jayga”. Here Bhupendra’s classical redention is much weak compared to Lata. Again Rafi / Manna Dey could have done a much better job.

That was not a flaw. Ofcourse, a Manna Dey choice could have done justice to any classical
rendition, but in this song Kishore Kumar has done full justice. He didn’t classical rendition
I guess because what he had performed is perfect. Yeah, Lata sounds melodious.

May be I should listen again to make any comment, but I guess it was not a flaw as you
said.

Compared to the above song “Tum Aa Gaye Ho Noor Aa Gaya Hai” from same film ‘Aandhi’ is an example of better co-ordination between Kishore & Lata. Both are excellent here.
