i am also a great fan of kishore………..i dont know what happens to me when hear is songs …i just standstill……..i heard his songs while i was preparing for puc exams…..before that while reading i is to take tension……..then my father who to is a great fan of kishoreda told to hear old songs particularly of kishore’s……from then onwards i got habbit of reading books simultaneously listening to kishore da s songs……….”I REQUEST THE FM RADIO CHANNELS TO KEEP A SPECIAL PROGRAM ON HIM”………..

Thank you everyone for your comments. And thank you Azad, Gurufan and SKS for your encouraging words. SKS, I agree with you, the comic songs of Guru far outweigh his “serious” songs in the first two decades and that would definitely have frustrated a singer of his caliber. I feel Mannadey was similarly underused by many MDs.

We will always miss u Kishore da… U remain in our heart always… I will neva forget the day u left us. Coz that same day my whole family was admitted in hospital due to viral fever… except me. I was only 17 years old then… I used to take medicenes and foods for my family to the hospital 19 kms away from home by a cycle… After I heard u passed away… I was crying all the way till I reached hospital and father asked me “Raju ki holo kadchish keno”… I was unable to speak just crying and crying. Suddenly I feel dark in my sight and fall down but later I was ok. But since then every year same day there were tears in my eyes… I dont know why… What relation I have with U… But I swear I MISS U.. Jekhanei thako bhalo theko… Tomar moto (xerox) aar keu hobena …
I LOVE U KISHOREda…

Madhavi, lovely account of the early years of Guru….I must say a very objective analysis…you do make writing look so simple…

You are right that his singing career was quite inextricably bound with his acting career…and I feel that slowed the his entire progress through 50s as a singer, since he had got typecast as a comedy actor by then…more he did comedy roles, more comedy songs he sung, and less and less music composers considered him for serious songs…I think, perhaps, his home productions of Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein. and Door Ka Rahi helped a lot on portraying his abilities for singing more intense songs…

In a nutshell, I would feel he did good to distance himself from acting (since that would have restricted his progress as a singer)…
